Wow! Such bright colours and crisp details! Amazing macro Alison!!!
Sorry not to have been commenting of late Alison - I've been working away from home so have had patchy access to the internet. I'm just about to head out again today but hope to catch up with my UF friends tomorrow. Thanks for your comments and support in my absence though... it is much appreciated!

I really like the cheeful colors here. Your bio says that you were raised in Guatemala...and these colors evoke that imagery for me!

BIGMML (before I got my macro lens, lol) I used the close-up filters you described. Some of the early shots in my portfolio may have been shot with those filters. You are quite right that holding the camera still is what makes or breaks the image. At the macro level, sometimes the plane of the image in focus is about 1mm or 2mm deep.

The only way to make it work is to use a tripod, or a beanbag, or some sort of brace to hold the camera still. If you try it by hand it is nearly impossible, or at least it was for me.

Good luck playing with the filters. They can be a lot of fun!

Beautiful macro, Alison! I like the way you've used the background contrasting colour to bring out the details.

You may have noticed, dear Alison, that I prefer not to comment on BIPs. That does not mean that I don't congratulate on them, including yours, but I feel that commenting on them would be superfluous.
On the other hand I love what you did with your new filter. Like you, I'm amazed at what Armando, a dear friend of mine and probably of yours does with his, bur this photo seems to indicate that you are about to (possibly) out Armando him.
Thank you for your very kind comments on my "Since 1977" my "Orange hat toddler" and my "Autoportrait in sunglass."
As some viewers requested to see the latter photo in th original, I attach it here.
Best regards,
Rafi
