About A vertical panorama of three landscape formats, @ 10 mm (16 mm in film terms). From a short trip to Berlin, I was impressed by the new outfit of this famous place and wanted to convey as much as possible of the architecture in a single view. Technically, 16 bit TIFFs from RAW converted twice (as if exposed for highlights and midtones/ shadows), composites with the gradient tool in PS, to compensate contrast like a grad ND filter would have done. Stitched with PanoTools/ PtGUI software, at last 10% shadow/ highlight correction.

Wonderful architecture image.
All the details, lines, and style of
the buildings is so interesting. Different
from anything I've seen.

Very well done,
GR8 exposure,

György, you are right ! Damn, I had just an afternoon in Berlin and mistaked the place (maybe that the restaurant "Alex" there confused me...). Thank you for your remark !

Hi Carsten,

wow, you did a great job in capturing the whole scenery. the three pictures seem to fit together seamlessly, and the weird geometry is a winner. good work on the hightlights and depths, although I'm missing a clear black point.

the only minor thing for me is the part on the bottom. the "tent" seems to be cut off somehow.

Anyway, very good geometry composing. Have to go there as well ;-)

best wishes,
Thilo

Carsten, this is a wonderful pano. But isn't it Potzdamer Platz? Here is an old photographics of mine, digitized from analog video. Best, Gy.

This is superb. Wonderful composition and the fish-eye effect creates a wonderful feeling. The colours are nice and vibrant too.

Giorgio, thanks for detailed comment. Nodal point, hmmm.... I try to pan around the nodal point, but my panos are all handheld. Sometimes I have to correct afterwards with PanoTools/ PtGUI, but vertical pans are easier than horizontal, IMO. For matched color palettes, I convert all RAW with CaptureOne, you can transfer the exact color temperature and settings from one RAW to another, a nice feature for this purpose.

Regards

Carsten

Awesome image Carsten
very interesting work, as usual
I'm agree with you, the gradient tool is the better way to compensate contrast, i prefer it than the "hardware" one ;-)
BTW can i ask some info to you?
-how did you manage the nodal point?
-did you use a tripod?
-Did you lock the White Balance and use just some manual exposures?
Still never used this software but maybe it's time to give a try ;-)
congrats on your wonderful work.
greetings
Giorgio

I love the curved buildings and I agree it rounds itself up to the dome. Fasinating shot with interesting detail at every angle

Lily, thanks for your detailed critique. The curves are due to the super wide lens, and the angle of view (together with a slight barrel effect from the PanoTools software during stitching). But I like the curves, because they lead my eyes nicely to the dome ;-)

It transports you to the scene as if you are there. True-to-life colors noone can quibble with. The blue glass building and the white sails(my interpretation) of the dome grab the attention. I am curious about the curved buildings on the left and right though (not the blue tower in middle). Are they really built that way or am I missing something?
