Hi Arwa,
It's actually not so easy to explain this technique ;-)
I do a lot of layer stuff. In this case, I first increased the contrast with a special layer, then desaturate the image, then apply some channel mixer ops to it. the advantage is that I have more control over depths and hightlighs than with just the channel mixer mono setting.
best wishes, Thilo

Great street shot, B&W is top notch. Sky, men, and signs balance the composition and protect from looking crowded. Hats off ! Regards; Carsten

Hello thilo! :) You know its perfect don?t you! The tension caused by the tilt, building and the details is so beautiful! A classic that would hold the test of time! Would you please explain to me in details how you use the channel mixed to turn the image into back and white? It seems o have more gray tones than just de saturating the image thanx :)

I really like the scenery, lots of signs and fire escapes!! Also, the way that you included the people, but didnt make them the centre of attention is neat. The tones/contrast is fantastic!

Great work with the 14mm. there is so much going on here that its nice to just gaze at for a while. The textures on the ground and little checkerboard pattern on the shopfront are great in b&w Omar

Excellent low angle, Thilo.
The old men are not in much evidence. My impression when looking at this photo is that it was of the sign or the building.
Still, very nice b&w conversion work.
Have you finished with the photos from Amsterdam already?
