The protagonists in this photo are the beggar and his dog. When first I tried to take their photo, the dog (the beggar was absent, leaving the dog to take care of his business) growled at me. So I passed by and put a 50 Frank note in the bag in front of the dog. When I came back, the beggar had returned and once more both he and the dog growled at me when I tried to take their photo. Then I showed the man the money I had put in his bag, and he gladly posed for me. Later we became best friends and the man told me that he had a "post restant" at a bank that happened to be behind his usual place. I sent the photo, (before working on it in P.S.) to the "post restant" and when I came back to Paris a few months later, the bagger was already happy with the photo. On my next visit to Paris I learned that he had gone on vacation to Hungary, his homeland. I don't know if he took the dog with him, but the dog was not there. Worked on in P.S.
