About Was actually experimenting with Tri-X's over/under exposure latitude. Tried to expose for the mid tones and let tri-x handle the highlights and shadows. The result was dependent on the manual b/w development and printing, which came out average.
Anyway this is a documentary shot outside of Punjab University where I used to study. The grain is Tri-x's trademark, tried not to remove it in PS. Toning and a frame in PS.

P.J your observations are very valid. The haze is due to the lack of contrast and the sky is blown in my opinion too. The sky was very clear and I was shooting into it, so there wasn't much I could do expect go for a flare shot or hope for sun burst to add drama. I tried burning the sky but it looks too artificial. Maybe a fresh scan directly off film could do the job. Am attaching a shot from the same series shot with color film. This will give you an idea of where the sun was the state of the sky.
Thanks for visiting.
Best Regards,
Saqib Zulfiqar

Thank you Daniel for the nice comment. Its good that you mentioned DOF. Actually focusing for infinity i used Hyper focal distance. That way I could get most of the image in good focus. That of course correlates with the F stop. The lower the F stop the more focus area you get. Read the technical part of it here...

Thank you Khalid for your visit and appreciate that you liked the shot. The boats are there if anyone wants to go for a ride, but you have row it yourself and its free. Tell you what, downstream is easy and while going upstream is a disaster. Dont ask me how i know ;)

That's a masterpiece... the composition and lighting are amazing.
Reminds me of the canals in the Egyptian countryside except for the boats.
7/7... bravo,
Khaled.

Thanks Chris for the encouraging comment. The sun was on the right side of the frame. So thats good news. It was a clear sky, so maybe if there were patches of clouds, things would have been slightly different.
Thanks for your review and visit.

The right hand side looks good...good contrast and richness, and the sky doesn't look really blown out anywhere.
