Thank you, Barbara for your wonderful comment. I don't think anyone really understands yet the powerful bond between people and dogs. I certainly have had dogs that I will never forget. And I find them irresistible subjects for photos. Like some children, many dogs seem to know instinctively that they are about to be photographed--and they pose! That is something no one can explain, but I am certain it is so.

Best of luck . . . --g

I use to have one of these beautiful hard headed English Bulldogs and I loved them so much, I really had 4, the the youngest one had my heart and soul, when I got cancer, I had to get rid of all of them, after I when't into remission I Tryed to buy the youngest one back, but the man said she would die there, and It has been 9 years so I am sure she is died by now. In fact she looked a whole lot like this picture. excellent job.

The little spot of drool is so appropriate! Not that you have many options with bulldogs, the drool will be there. But good for you for leaving it there.

This is excellent the detail in the fur and the lighting enhances all those gorgeous wrinkles. Lovely shot George. Want to reach out and give him a pat might be a bit drooly ..lol

Yes, Drilan, he probably should be called Winston. When I was an undergraduate, the college mascot was just such a dog with that very name. Thank you for your comments. --g

Il pourrait s'appeler Winston, mais pas à cause des cigarettes... beau portrait plein de caractère.

Thanks, Marcus, but the picture isflattering in the way you mention. He is a SERIOUS drooler, but very amiable and self-assured, nonetheless. --g

Paul--My atrocious typing! Of course, I left out "not" as in "not the least bit self-conscious." This English usage is such a bother!

Well, Krista, I do see your point. On the other hand, these are the gentlest and most charming of animals. They unfailingly elicit a smile from everyone. Thanks for the nice comment. --g

Thanks, Paul. He was in the least bit self-conscious; so who am I to correct him? ;-) --g

Superbly detailed portrait George, I like the fact that you kept the drool on his chin (it would have been easy to clone it out) - part of the character of this breed.

What a beautiful beast George. My husband would love it. He wants an English Bulldog in the worst way but I told him we couldn't have one until we had a separate bank account for all of the vet bills. Great Capture
