Thank you very much for your explanations. I though there was a clever post production to realize this instead. I'm so surprised that you had to desaturate. Thanks Eli:-))

Actually Elisabeth, would you believe that I had to de-saturate the image many times to give it a more realistic look. There could be many reasons for an image to look saturated, but in this particular case I got a very nice clear/cloud streaded sky after a severe thunderstorm/rain/hail that day. So the timing was right, on top of that, I slight underexposed and darkened the background, By darkening, colors get saturated, thats why I had to de-saturate them. Used the fill flash on the foreground to light the rocks so the foreground colors came nice, but I guess the colors were pretty close to bright natural after rain had washed everything clean. And of course a Jeddah corniche sunset on the Red Sea is a spectacle itself.

Thanks Saeed, Actually the Jeddah Corniche is very beautiful, it seems as if artists have made it to perfection. So you don?t really have to work on finding a great location to shoot. Every possible location is going to look into the sun with a very dynamic foreground. All I did was place the camera and hitting the button. I?m just fortunate that it came out satisfactory. One advantage was that some clouds were there after a thunderstorm, so that maybe helped in clearing the atmosphere and creating that saturated look. Thanks for visiting.

Thanks Giorgio, as you can see it is extremely difficult to balance the foreground and background exposure when taking sunsets because of the light difference. ND filters are used for that, but in this case I used a fill flash while exposing for the background. Later on some level adjustments to tone down or bring out details. Thanks for visiting.
