Hi Louise,
I choose either Curves and "set white point" (the white picker) or the same in the menu Levels. Changing the Input Levels can give an advantage to the picture too.
Usually I shoot in RAW but my time was short so I decided to take these shots in JPG by the S2 with standard settings except sharpness (off). Color standard produces nice skin tones but makes the whiteness of the carton to soft gray tones.
Hope this could help you a little :))

Thanks so much for your explanation. Yes, two different flashes were used which explains the colour shift. I think I just need to bring out more lights!! Last question...how did you do the white balancer? I just use curves and select highlights. Is there a better way? I'd be curious so see your 'out of the camera' image of this cute shot. Thanks again!

the background is the seamless photo carton but not the super white (would be better, but most often sold out in my town ...).
The child in my set up is approx. 2-3 m away from the end of the bg.
There are 2 umbrella softboxes (not reflector umbrellas) in 45 degrees to the end. In the middle there were another 2 flashes plus 2 (big ones) at the front.
Same lightpower to each strobe.
All flashes have the same light temperature.
---> the feet always seemed like a stop darker for some reason.
If I have this problem, I use 2 flashes (= boxes/ umbrellas) ... one for the bottom, one for lighting the models head. If the only strobe is on the same height as the subjects head (or even higher) at the bottom there will be one light stop missing.
Your picture and your technique looks good.
I guess that the light temperature may differ from the left and right flash?
On the left side of the bg there are yellows, on the right are mainly blue tones.
But it?s easy by using the ps white balance picker to fix it.

Thanks for answering my question. How far is she from the background? I assume it is just the super-white seamless? I was just using two umbrellas to light the background white, then a soft box on the subject and the paper around the feet always seemed like a stop darker for some reason. If I brought up the intensity of the main light the subject would be underexposed. Not sure why I'm having such troubles!

I think I used a lighting with 3 studio strobes (softboxes) from the right and from the left so that everywhere is the same intensity of light.
Finally 1-2x using whitebalance in ps, finished.
