That'll teach me to jump to conclusions. To think that there are Cortinas still racing! I would love to have seen them. Not as much fun as DOGS of course.

Well this photo is two weeks old, shot at a historic car race. When I had been in England in 67 as a young boy the son of our guest family drove a Cortina 1300 or 1500, don't remember exactly, more noise than speed. The Lotus versions are a completely different car, up to 160HP and only 750kg weight. You know what that means ? They are able to control the heavy 350HP Mustangs and Falcons, which have partly up to 400HP. Fat is a deadly sin at racing.

I KNEW this had to be an old photo when I read the name "Cortina." I used to drive one... horribly underpowered, I remember. Can't say that about the racing/rally version!

At the historic TC and GTC '65 Jim Clark Memorial Race April 2005 in Hockenheim The T5s an Falcons had a hard time with the brave Cortinas and Alf GTAs. One of the Cortinas lost the race only because of an unattentive moment in one of the last curves and a Falcon finally won that race.
