Stefan, thank you for your comment, the original shot is digital color and its' a beauty, so this is post work, I'm experimenting with presentation of portraits a bit, think black & white is so much more powerful than color for portraits, early days in my experience I might add.cheers,david.

It is an unusual choice of presentation, especially for such a young and cute subject, but it grows on me. Did you do this at exposure time or is it post work?

Alison, thank you so much for your comment. I have a colour shot but don't like it as much. Cropping is a bit of a deal for me at the moment, I think good composition places the subject elsewhere than right in the middle of the frame so I would pick mine over yours in this instance (odd that!!) for that reason but it gets down to personal preference I guess....I appreciate what you said and did. cheers, david.

David have been through your portfolio, what a wonderful selection. A real inspiration. I like this photo, personally I would like to have seen her in color but that absolutly a persoanl preference as I feel children are the colors and honesty of life. Just personally I may have cropped out more of the shadow on the right and above her. Maybe that wasn't the effect you were striving for as it focusses more on her. Just for the effect see below.
