Hi Mary, When we found this guy, I started taking pictures at him using a dsc-p70 from Olympus + a 400 telescope from Orion. He was coming out to the beach every 30 minutes and then going back to the ocean. He was not upset from our presence. It's very uncommon to see sea lions in Costa Rica, so I feel blessed that I was able to record his visit to my country. The funny thing is that pictures portraying this guy were taken by other photographers and were published in one of the main stream news papers. So this one my be one the most famous sea lions from the Galapagos Islands, the natural laboratory that inspired Charles Darwin to write the most famous book of the XIX century.
