Thanks for looking

Thanks for your comment, Pat. I've taken two very bad pics of mom owl-- I didn't have the long lens with me and she took off before I set up, but managed to snap a few of her flying, but they aren't very good. According to my friend, she isn't around as much anymore, probably doing more hunting-- comes around mainly in the evening. At least that's when she sees the mother, my friend is busy all day milking goats and feeding critters, so she might miss some visits. I hope to get a few more pics before the owls go off on their own or the stack of hay bales goes down and I don't have access any more;) In any case, I consider myself fortunate to have been able to get as close as I did-- before this I'd never seen an owl in the wild...

So ugly they are cute. I am so facinated by owls. Around here they are very dificult to get close to. They are definitly on my list of preferd subjects. Are these little guys wild. You seem to have been awarded some pretty close access..

Well captured!

Thanks, Angelo. I have so much to learn yet-- I'd forgotton how much camera shake there is with the 300mm lens, and was so disappointed with the softness of some of the shots. Not possible to set up the tripod where I was at... but, I could have been more careful with the camera. Some of the better composed and exposed shots were much too fuzzy to be useful. Maybe next time...

This is much better, excellent. The little owlettes together form a triangular shape for a very good composition.

The sharpness is also much better. Lovely details.

You are very lucky to have access to these fellas.

Hi Carolyn-- Mom was off hunting, she's spending less time there with the babies, I think she has to bring in a lot more food, they're getting so big now. I was at the ranch a week ago, and they were much smaller. I saw mom then, but today the only thing I saw were the rat pellets she left behind. She's pretty used to people being around, my friend has to go up right next to the next to knock the bales of hay down. The little guys hiss alot, but settle down. It was really cool to see this... I feel so lucky!!
