This has got to be the best wasp photo I've seen on here. He's a very interesting color - I love the red. DOF is perfect, as always. GREAT macro, James.

Thanks Mike, I think there might be one in my portfolio under bee's and wasps, but not as good of light and detail. Thanks for the info on the contest, I think I'm going to check it out.

With A title like that what more do I add?? Your DOF is great in capturing the body with amazing detail, I am I think a "whole body experience" enthusiast, do you have one where the wings are also in a fair amount of detail?
have a look at this page, you might enter your shot in this: http://www.amonline.net.au/up_close/competition.htm
Good luck if you do

Thanks Richard, yes, he is on a glass patio table. I like how it turned out. You even get a hint of a reflection.

Thanks Peter, yes he was moving but very slow. We had a cold spell come through and thats how I caught him. I then put him in the refridgerator for about 5 minutes and slowed him down even more. Took him about 5 minutes before he warmed up and he flew away:)

Indeed a 7! Is he (or she) standing on glass? Imagine if those things were two feet long, humans probably would'nt be here now. Great work.
