Hi Arthur, thanks for your comments. I really didn't even look at this object from the other side to try and figure out what it actually was. I saw it from the dark side, and noticed the rim lighting around some of the parts that had webs attached. With regard to the virtical lines being awkward, this was suspended between 2 cyrpus trees which didn't quite grow straight up. I believe it was being suspended from the tree on the right side of the frame.
Phillip...the other two images work better for me. What might I change? Maybe use fill flash to brighten the details in the tree and rope, unless you were trying to convey some mystery or a situation where your viewer had to really concentrate to figure out what the subject of the photograph is. Then you are right on!
The lines seem awkward. You have the slanting vertical line of the tree, along with the perpendicular line of the rope intersecting with the horizon. These, combined with the black frame and drooping branch silhouettes gives me a feeling of confusion.
Again, if this was your intent, then you are right on the money.
