Hi Again! Thought I'd mention a website I was refered to 2 weeks ago www.harphampix.com it is similar to usefilm.com and is free. It would be a great site to show your work on! It is a smaller group of people....pretty cool site.

Hi Andrea,

Great to hear from you. Yeah, I'm pretty serious about photography. I would love also to make money (somehow ?) doing what enjoy. I have a full photo studio (softboxes, umbrellas, monolights, light stands, backgrounds, etc.) and play around with it from time to time. I have a Nikon F100 (film), Fuji S3, and a Nikon D2X with about 14 Nikon lenses (glad to see you are nikon too!). I currently take in-house product shots for www.asunset.com (my company). My work allows me many free hours to play hooky, grab a camera and go shoot.

I bought several domain names (memphisphotos.com, memphisphotography.com, colliervillephotography.com, and photographersfocus.com (none of which are active currently). I employ a very good web designer/graphic artist but can't get in my mind's eye exactly what the heck I want to do with the photo websites. I have a ?real job? so I don?t have the time for and don?t particularly want to do wedding work or ?family portraits. I keep waiting for National Geographic to call me but so far it has been a long wait ?lol. (I ?m still waiting for Eddie Van Halen to call also, and tell me they need a new drummer) lol.

If you have any revelations on what you think a good niche would be for the websites ...please let me know. Basically Andrea?I?m all dressed up with nowhere to go?lol. Again Andrea, I love viewing your work and what ever I do with these sites I?m sure I can make a place for you on them. !! Great to hear from you?stay in touch.

Best Regards,

Mike

Aghhh...you caught me Mike! I was trying to stay incognito - lol. I think Steven said you are doing a website with your photos? I'd love to see it sometime. Are you serious into photography or is this a hobby? I was thinking how I'd like to sell some stuff if I can get to that point. Things like the upcoming Fair on the Square might be a way. I'm not familiar with the galleries around here or even how to break into that field. Or for that matter, if I'm even good enough to attempt it. But, I'm all for learning more about it. Thanks for your comments, I added you to my friends list too!

Hi Andrea,

Great to see another "Colliervillite" on here. I'm impressed by your work and have added you to my "friends" list. I'm also impressed to know a famous columist! Yes I saw ( http://www.geocities.com/momcolumn/bio.html )! Great work Andrea!

Thanks Paul and Pat!

I took a course of photography in college (way before digitals) and just got my first digital last year (don't laugh - a Coolpix2100), I just bought this D70 about 2 weeks ago.
I'm yet another housewife armed with her camera and "shooting" the kids-lol. But,I want to move beyond that, find my niche, develop a strong portfolio and see about one day selling photos. So everyone's critiques/comments here have been so helpful. I really appreciate the compliment! You have a great portfolio yourself!

A novice huh? Dosen't look that way to me!

Thanks for your recent comments by the way...

This shot is great, as a matter of fact your portfolio is very good as well.

You have manipulated this shot in most perfect way. And it's a killer shot to start with.

You have a great eye!

nice selective coloration, Andrea. Very crisp and nicely exposed and framed.

I know what you mean. Sometimes we make suggestions but do not know the entire scene that you were presented with. You might have cloned those cans out though

Thanks. I agree, matter of fact the first thing I said when I uploaded this was, "Man, I cut the top off!" I had a couple more pictures of this but there was a trash can right below the left rails and I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it, so I used this version. Thanks for the comments!

this is great use of selective coloring. I do agree with the top crop. but I like the perspective and the coloring.

Andrea, this is a great image. My only criticism is I wish the crop was taller so that there was a bit of space above this.
