Thanks Kim. One of the really nice features of using a digital camera is the ability to preview the exposure on the spot. In this instance, one stop underexposure was exactly what I was looking for to take the emphasis off the foreground trees and put it firmly on the backlit leaves. I wanted you to look through the trees and not at them. With a limited depth of field to work with, I also chose to focus beyond the foreground trees making it even more important that they not be overly well lit.

I like the way that the darker trees frame this shot, and the backlit leaves reallly add impact. Have you found that underexposing by one stop usually produces this effect?
