Well I'd say the shadows MUST be dark if the whole thing shall work, not every closed shadow is a mistake ;-)

Very high contrast in this one. So high I just know it has to be a deliberate choice. What puzzles me more than the contrast is the unusual texture of the wall, and to a lesser extent, the tiles on the roof. I think the grain may have interracted with it to create artifacts, if that's the word. Or perhaps they're just wet? (I know you sometimes get rain... )

Lot of things good about this photo. Like the repeating shapes with vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines, beautiful textures and very nice lighting.
