Yes the flatness makes them look a little unreal. in fact a bit like a 'painting'. Great DOF but the darker background perhaps makes them look flatter, but an interesting composition and I am sure conveys the look of the flower. I played and tried iightening it a bit, but you do lose the feel/essence of the composition
