IMO the colour version is more dramatic beacouse of the richness of the colours

The snowscape looks endless due to the very good composition and DOF. Lighting is very nice. And the exposure and colors are perfect. (I somehow felt it was from a Nikon D70 even before I saw the camera used!) Very nice picture.
