About Saw these patterns at the beach today, caused by the water rinsing off at low tide. I took a couple of photos and the next minute a bigger wave came and washed away this beautiful artwork.

This is a fantastic shot. One can almost imagine this to be a satellite view of geologic evidence of ancient rivers or other water flow. Well done!

Hi David,
This kind of reminds me of my "through frosted glass" series. Did you do much ps work on this?
It looks kind of grainy, maybe the sand is very coarse.
Any how, I like it.

Hi James, the original was very low in contrast and I increased it in PS quite a bit. I think the camera noise might be adding a little, but most of it is probably due to the fact that I streched a very small section of the original 8 bit data to the full range.

Nice. Love the patterns. Looks a bit grainy to me, and not from the sand. :)

Jan, that is a very good idea. It looks much better this way!

David, this is gorgeous! I think you could have framed it, poster-style, and put your signature in the frame. In fact, I think a black frame might really make this shot POP!! Maybe something like this...

I agree the signature is distracing here. I noticed that I keep making it smaller and smaller over the last couple of months. I want to keep it in, but for photos that need to be clear like this, it is probably a better idea to add an edge around it and sign it there.

of the two, I like this one better, but I find your signature a distracting element

I think I've ssen similar patters before but certainly not often. I took a lot of photos but people walked over them so it was full of footsteps. For some reason the patters always seem to come out of the sand when I lok at the photo. In reality the water actually "carved" out the pattern from the sand as it rinsed back to the sea.

I'll upload some more once I have time to process them.

David, I have never seen patterns like this before. Next time I am out at the beach I will be looking for them. Beautiful capture, love the textures...will you print it?

Wow, what a cool design in the sand. I'm glad you were able to capture it before the wave!
