About As a winter storm envelopes the mountains behind the red cliffs, the green of spring emerges and surrounds an 1880s agricultural ghost town in Harrisburg,Utah.

This is one of the last remaining structures of a Mormon community that thrived at the junction of two creeks. It was nearly sold to condo developers before the Federal government bought the property and planning on preserving it.

David, I enjoy visiting the images here in your portfolio. Great locations (I still can't get over the fence around Haystack Arch!)beautiful light and expert exposure. I've ventured out into the high desert a few times in recent years and I too fell in love with the ghost towns and natural beauty of the wild west. Best regards. -john

Oh my GOSH! This is really wild,
The textures and colors of the bricks are so interesting against the cliffs.

This makes a GR8 photograph, I like this one a lot. And how lucky can you be to get a nice interesting sky at that time.

Good job,
Lori :)

Okay, for whatever reason, that didn't work.

arrrgh. You both caught me. This was an experiment gone wrong at the last moment. Just before I submitted it, I decided to try and burn/dodge in some of the white clouds that were too grayish. I was not happy either and had I been careful and taken more time, I would have layered it so I could have elected to take it out had they come out looking funky. But in my rush, and going beyond the ability to undo, I was stuck.

Here's the original.

nice shot, but the storm clouds look like they were added in.

I find this photo fascinating. I love the desert and I love ghost towns, you've captured both. I love it!

Beautiful photograph. Love how the remaining architecture blends so well with the surrounding landscape. Happy that the land was saved.

This is definitely the only 'condo' t his scene needs on it, thank goodness it is being preserved, looks a wonderful place, and your composition of it is lovely. SUch a great combination of colours and textures.

This is very interesting - for two reasons - 1, it is an unusual shot and well done at that and 2, I appreciate your extra information.
on the photographic side I wonder is an lille more DOF use for to put the mountains just slightly more out of focus might be better. IMHO
