Just some more recent experimenting with different perspectives on these water shots, which probably represent my favorite subject. Taken at Laurel Falls last friday, easily one of the most popular trails and destinations in the most visited national park in the U.S., Great Smoky Mountains. I got lucky and hit the Little River road just as Park Rangers opened it (closed due to snow and ice), so I spent about 30 minutes alone at the falls before the first wave of people arrived.
My thoughts exactly Eric. I have been trying to look at these scenes with a different perspective as of late, but unfortunately my options were limited due to geography and gravity;-) Less snow, which I too would prefer, would have brought in more distracting background elements. Ah well, such is life. Thanks for the critique.
Love the composition here, Robert, with the flow of water and the snow. Love the three distinct sections, light, dark, and flow, and the contrast between hard lines and soft. It's always an accomplishment to be the first into Laurel Falls and sheer luck to capture this before everything gets trampled. Very well done.
