This is the Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói, a city right in front of Rio, across the Guanabara bay.
It was designed by Oscar Niemeyer, a world famous brazilian architect that, appart being communist never considered that people'd live inside his creations - they're an oven on summer and a refrigerator on winter...
This building's design is quite interesting, photogenic, even though it looks like "Lost In Space's" spaceship. And, as another trademark of his masterpieces, cracks and poor finishing give that unique texture touch. Inside you can walk over waves since the floor isn't flat.
A real shame.
It's better to photograph from distance so we can't see the details, only its forms.
I packed for a sunny day with an old (10+ years) but refrigerated Kodak Ektar 25, but clouds quickly blocked the Sun and I wasn't able to pick the saturated colors I was looking for. i belive on a sunny day this image'd look better but I believe composition ended up nice.
desculpe a demora.
I know it might sound nuts at first but the temperature factor is a point here because of humidity. When I was young I once traveled with my father to Sturgeon Bay/US. It was about minus 15? and I was out playing happily with snow. It wasn't windy, of course. Nor humid. The I came closer to become a penguin in my life was Curitiba here in Brazil, at only plus 5?... But what a damn humid city. I'd say even fire is wet there.
Well, when you're used to living around 35?C, 10?C becomes quite cold. And if you're inside a Niemeyer building, brrrrr... That's cold... And I perfectly agree with you on thefridge x oven question. Rio is too hot to handle without air conditioning. But it's worth sometimes.
