It is actually pretty unusual to blurr like that a fashion photograph. It is actually a requirement to get as much clarity as possible. (Unless you add noise to posterize it, wich I don't see here).
There are tools available to soften the skin without getting double-vision effects.
That is my opinion.

Hi there Earl! Thanks so much for the compliments. Charleston, SC is a beautiful place to take shots. The good thing is, almost anywhere you go you will find something good to photograph. I myself haven't made the trip to take photos, but look to doing that this Summer. Perhaps we will unknowingly spot each other in the viewfinder=) I have several friends that live there and had planned on picking their brains for great places to shoot. I will pass the info on to you as soon as I hear=) Thanks again, Shane=)

Hi John, sorry it has taken so long to respond. I had a great time making these photos. As far as the light source goes, you may laugh at me. I made my own. I bought a chrome light funnel from Lowes Home Improvement and wrapped it with a very thin wrapping tissue to diffuse the light combined with the external flash on my Rebel. I have deep love for photography, unfortunately, my pockets arent as deep as my love, ha! So, I have to find other ways to be creative. I just bought a Digital Canon Rebel online and soon hope to be joining those people who are doing wonderful things with digital photography=) I'm really excited about it. Maybe soon, I will be able to upgrade my lighting equipment. Thanks for asking and thanks for commenting. It means alot =) Shane

Very Strong composition. You have done well here. What was your light source. In the picture with the Dog I believe you used natural light. Did you do the same here? Nice soft touch. I am new to some of these technigues. Recently fell in love with Neat Image and Picasa2.
Have a Great night,
