Thank you for your explanation on the picture of baron,s palace and your invitation, over the years i haven visited egypt and cairo five times and i feel that i have seen very little of your country. On every of these five trips i spent one or more days in Cairo and every time i knew and said to myself that this was not last time i was in that great, noisy, dirty, busy, but fascinating and in places beautifull city. Maybe i will call on you if and when i plan to make another visit to Cairo. Regards. Jaap Poot

Wow, what a story! A European baron builds a fantastic palace in the style of a Hindu temple! I can't even imagine the engineering involved in turning the building (the whole building??!!) to keep it facing the sun. I'll put it on my list of places to see.

Yes, It's in Cairo, It's Baron Emban Palace, It Was Built at 1907 by European Baron and died at 1930,This Baron built also the city which the palace locate in. His son continued living in till 1952, This palace designed to turn around on a wheel to facing the sun during all the day. All the imperial furniture had been stolen from it. and became a hidden night residency for addicts and porno parties. Now the government put the upper hand on it and soon will be a museum.

Wonderful, Jaap. Thanks for sharing this. Is it a Hindu temple in Heliopolis? I guess the rules of religious practice in Egypt aren't quite what they are in some other countries? I'm actually a little surprised, pleasantly, to see human figurines on the building.
