Wonderful colors. Great shot. The trees, the stone buildings, the sky (the clouds turn it perfect), the grass. I really like your photographs. Congrats.

What pairing did you have Howie - the 20D or the EOS-1N or was it just a bad lens ?
It is funny, for a while I had placed Tamron in higher esteem than Sigma but I have just read a review of the Sigma 105mm macro shoot v Tamron SP 90mm DI and the Sigma comes out above it (last years Photography Monthly).
More food for thought ... got to get a DSLR body (and permissions) first of all though lol
Best wishes, Steve

Urghhh not so good shift systems at the moment then:( sorry to hear that. One thing, dont rule out the Tamron. I just happened to have a bad copy I've seen some amazing results with people who have had very good copies of that lens. If you can, try out both from a good camera shop and then decide :)

Fabulous capture Howie, sorry about the flu - can I have some please, I just cannot get out of 12hour shifts right now - 36hours on nights, 1 day off and now 36hours days, it aint good for the system !
Very interested in your comments on the Tamron lens, I was going to marry that one up with the 20D (once I have saved up) - will now consider the Sigma instead !
Best wishes and get well soon, Steve

My favorite part of this shot is the clouds, they seem so realistic, like they are still in motion! Beautiful colors and nice perspective!

Great shot, love the sky and really nice composition, if I had to pick fault I would say the wall at the bottom of the shot is a little dark.
But I would still be delighted if I had taken this shot, it is beautiful, Get well soon mate.

A very nice place and photographic impression ! The use of the polarizer is nice for the sky . ( You can also use it half, turning it a little bit back from the full position, then it will not darken the shadoes to much ) I enjoy these slide pictures !! Regards :) Jan

Thanks Mark for all the comments mate. Im just coming down with flu, felt like crap all day, went to bed for a couple of hours after work and on the beechams at the moment. Weather is horrendous tonight so not looking hopeful for the weekend to get out.
I just got a Sigma 24-70 F2.8 EX DG DF and initial tests show even at F2.8 its pretty sharp. I did buy the Tamron 28-75 XDI but my copy was dire. Unuseable until F4. I know there are very good copies out there though.
Im having a blast with film as you can see at the moment. I've never shot slides before so its intersting to see how Im progressing as a photographer. In fact, up until 6-9 months ago I'd never shot film LOL. I now seem to have the bug for both digital and film LOL. I honestly think there is a value to both :)
Is your cousin on Usefilm as I'd like to see some of his work as well :) The 300D is a great camera. I started with the 10D only because the 300D wasn't available. I have a friend who has had some fantastic captures with it.
Thanks again Mark and keep posting :)
Howie
