About
There is actually quite a story behind this image, that would involve the use of two much space. However, it was taken in New London, Conn, on such a night where the fog was so heavy, the night so cold, that nobody was around. This was taken in color, but it might look equally well in B & W.
Thanks for your comments, this was an extremely deseerted place with nobody around. I don't remember the exact settings, but the fog was so heavy, and the lights were dim. I usually use f/8 at night, as the distance is hard to see, so I want a sharp setting .
Time varries, but I know that it was somewhere in the 8-15 second time range. Tripod mounted and cold as the dickens with moisture on my face.
Thanks. It was quite foggy that night, cold and deserted; on or near New Year's Eve. Fog always seems to add to the mystery of a place, don't you think so?
Basically this was a empty cold, foggy night on a time when most people were at home or safely in some warm spot.
I found this very heavy fog, in New London, one late night and wanted to see what I could see; which wasn't much; the fog was almost like a pea soup. But I got this shot, and then i went to find a nice warm motel. I regret that I didn't stay and find more pictures that night. So the thought is that once you find a subject, don't let go, or stop, until you run out of film, or are satisfied that you have covered every possibility opportunity to develop the situation.
It's a wonder you were able to get this empty space Walt, but it certainly conveys the idea of your title. It's almost an eerie view of a normally crowded space. Dave.
The shapes of the image are great, suggestive at least, like what Nour said. I really like this in color because of the green tones on the walkway. Did you really expose this for 15 seconds at f/8?
