Thank you everyone for commenting. I do see that the eyes should be sharper and I adjusted the highlight/midtone/shadow for more contrast and do like it better. Thanks again for the help! I'm glad to have feedback to improve my photography skills since I'm a newbie :)

very natural and soft, warm looking photo. I would have tried to get a little more contrast in, but that's my personal taste. Blur is fine as long as you have something sharp and in focus (usually the eyes). The blury eyes is really the only thing, other than that I like the photo a lot.

Tara, you didn't sound overly critical in any way. Yes the picture you worked on looks better to me...great ps work! I think this site is a great place for us all to learn from each other. Thanks for taking the time to respond. :)

Pat... I hope by what I said ... I mean.. I didn't mean to sound critical. I know you know alot about portraits. Alot more than me. Is this what you were talking about. I clarified the black and white hues and sharpened the eyes and lips and hair. ?? Anyway, I'm sorry if it sounded wrong. Tara : )

I like this a lot, especially in B&W! I think the motion in the hands adds to it... shows just how busy he is! LOL The natural light in his eyes is great too. Nice work!!

P.S. It isn't the motion blur in his hands that bothers me-I actually like that. It's the softness around his eyes. He's beautiful, btw. :)

Oh so true Tara. I wasn't using a flash so the blur of his moving hands is very obvious. Thanks!

I love these kind of natural, at home shots. This one seems to need just a bit of sharpening, but your lighting and that great expression are perfect.
