This is also one of my favourite films!!!!!!!!!!! I adore Cocteau's works as a writer and as a director, his mentality used to be, and still is, one of the things that make me smile on cloudy days...

I have a B&W photo (infrared, not mine) from the house where the film was shot. Kiss

Amazing image. I think the mood could be changed here in so many ways. The tones now, to me, are feminine and wisful. This could change drastically with a change in tones. Excellent work.

The death of fairies would mean the death of imagination, I think that we all secretly believe in the existence of the insubstantial life of magical powers. It gives us strength to keep on dreaming.

Yes, on occasions when Aristotleian logic cannot prevail, and it happens many times everyday! Beauty, for one, is a miracle, and beauty exists only for those who believe.

Beautiful concept, this death of a fairy tale.

Merry Christmas, Mary, and may we all live happily ever after.

Mark

Another thing I like in you my precious friend , apart from your photos, is your academic background....
read my comments to Ferdinand and Janette as well as their comments. I could not agree with you more and I am glad you read Plato. The title of the photo is a rhetoric title...I totally agree abiut waht you say, this is the point also, as well as other side-ideas mentioned here. Plato has influenced my writings and his "Philotis" influenced my life also, and protected me from situations that did not follow his patterns of thought. Thank you again!

Good question about belief of the miracles. I think miracle had not to be verificated, and about this,Platon said in his PHAIDROS as you know, not about the miracles but about beauty.Just the same the differences between the crisis and the risk. Thanks.

Hi Mary,

what an astonishing luminosity you captured on this image! Impressive, really. It was the first thing that catched my eyes.

Composition is excellent, concept and title match as I've come to expect form you. Color adds the right "fantasy mood" to it. Many histories can come from it. Nice!

Regards,

Jose Azevedo

.......Mary,
as a swedish from the northen part of sweden, I?m used to fairytales and they have been a part of my life. While working as an sailor for some years the myth?s was always present and always told by the old sailors...In Island there?s a lot of exciting fairytales.....yes they ae around us!

Janette I am glad I see you use a Greek term?Greek hermineutikos, from hermineutis, interpreter, Interpretive; explanatory.

Oh Gods, I go through a linguistic phase again.. I must stop?.

I want to believe in fairytales, as myths are archetypal and timeless. Read my answer to Ferdinand if you wish?Aristotle destroyed many things but still he missed the essence? it is not the event but our reaction to the event that is the soil in which future events and behaviours will flourish? Our thoughts is our future? And the outside is a reflection of the inside? This is a new portfolio a study in fairytale reality.
Thank you, always a pleasure to find brilliant minds?this gives me a motive to go on!

Ferdinand...you said the magic words...

"maybe the victory of Aristotleian logic"

this logic has destroyed us...did you know that Aristotle called Heractelus an "idiot" all the time??

My titles sometimes exist in order to elicit suggestions...

Thank you...

Jeanette Hägglund Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59855} 12/21/2004
.......such a question Mary!!!! I do not belive in REAL miracles. This is a question of interpretation for me and as the question is a leading one - i am caught in a Hermeneutic circle. ;D ....
What you title suggest, the death of a fairytale, could also be your own answer on that!
Otherwise a sublime touch........which in this case means......unreachable!

Very interesting Mary, I like it!

Jeanette

Ferdinand    {K:3516} 12/21/2004
Oh yes, I think we are supposed to believe in miracles! Of course, the death of a fairytale is to accept some particular dogmatic reality - maybe the victory of Aristotleian logic. But actually, in the end fairytales will always win. All of which is just to say that this is a brilliant photo, Mary - perfect!
