Melanie, thanks for the comments and advice! I think he was pretty close to the lens... and that's what made that weird effect... anyway again thanks a lot for your advice and the different ways of cropping, it helped... Thank you everyone else too for the advice and comments :)

I like this a lot? and you need no advice Rachel - you just need to continue doing what you do!
You're a instinctive natural photographer and this is why you consistently manage a terrific unrehearsed immediacy in your shots ? directing doesn?t work and so you create the right atmosphere around the children and the playful and trusting participation produce irresistible images - always showcasing the magical wonder only children can give so freely.
Like other pictures in your portfolio this is a fine, GREAT portrait.
I look forward your future work

Cheers

I don't like the crops though but then photography as an art is about what you feel and like.

Rachel, I love the clarity and the detail here. The boy is VERY cute. I'm not crazy about the angle though. Maybe he was too close to the lense? I notice that when the subject is too close to the lense you tend to get that "fishbowl" effect. Maybe if you tried some creative cropping it might help! I had this same issue with one of my photos, I did a major crop on it and it really made a difference (it's title Gabrielle in my portfolio).
