Lynchburg is called Hill City. Everything has hills and slopes lol.. It's hard without a clear light horizon not to have a slope. It does tilt some, but I think I could have straightened it a little had I took more time to notice.

Very effective choices made for this shot. It's not tilting, the graveyard has a side-slope right????

What a great shot. I love the light and composition. It has a very rustic feel, and is just right for the subject. Bravo! T.

Stunning b&w photo. The composition gives the tree the appearance of a one-eye monster waving his tentacles to protect those souls beneath him. Cemeteries do this sort of thing to my mind.lol Sunday on my way back from photographing the fountains, I drove pass the old city cemetery and had the urge to pull in and take a couple of photos using the headlights of my car. I chickened out. I thought if the cops came along, I'd have a time convincing them I was only taking pictures.:-)

Wow, this shot gives such great mood due to the dark overcasting tree and the lovely soft light giving gentle shadows on the stones .. perfect ! Peter

Beutiful tones.. very dark.. great work! Only thing i dont like is that the image is tilting.. if it was tilting more it might have worked.. then one might got a feeling of falling down.. and doing that in a cemetery.. iiik.. =))
Cheers

This is an excellent shot Rebecca. The light from behind you lighting up the tree and the tombstones creates a very special almost ghostly atmosphere.

I've just been looking at the other cemetery photos you've posted, many of which are extremely compelling. This is my favorite, though; it's just outstanding.

What a nice effect. Clearly there's a sharp light source causing the shadows, but this is so dark it makes it look like moonlight. It's a killer image (gulp).

Very poignant image. I like the dark tones, the variation in angles of the tombstones, and the shadows.

The use of the filter gives this very nice atmosphere corresponding totally to the subject. I like the tree in the left part which can be considered as the gardian of the tombs, and even as a protector with its long branches above the toms. Another excellent shot Of cemetry Rebecca. Congrats

no, not the same. I use this one with my old manual film cameras to bring out white clouds, etc, and heighten the contrast. It does make some things appear almost like infra red though.

Great b/w, Rebecca! The bare branches really create that scary "graveyard" atmosphere, to heighten the sense of loneliness and apprehension. Dave.

Fantastic contrast and tonal range Rebecca. There is a lot of depth and shadow play. Very moody and 'Poe' worthy.

Becca, is Red 25A the same as an infrared filter?

I do enjoy some times feeling this way! It occurs to me Rebecca that itt's interesting what has happened in the BACKGROUND of you cemetry (left) and that could reap fruits at some stage using that (not neccesarily focussing on it). The clouds, the hillocks, the long grass, the untidy black bush, some old master would love it I reckon. The whole of this is tonaly depressed, though, I think.
