John, thanks for your comment. I spent a good 1/2 an hour yesterday writing up something in response to your question, sent it to you and somhow it has gotten lost in usefilm airspace. If you got it, could you let me know. I will never remember what I said:(

John,
Thanks you so much for your view on my photo. Since you asked, I put a little thought into it and came up with my version. Let me know what you think?

When we reach a dead end in our lives or there is no where to go, we can do one of three things.
1: We can stop and give up hope. 2: We can try to go back to the dying past that got us here 3: We can go the way our color tells us to go, this will always be a sure way to new beginnings and don't forget to leave the old baggage behind.

Thanks Judi, I looked at black and white but could not come up with a version that converted the bag well. It was either too bright or too dark and didn't look right with the background.

I like the idea, but feel it would probably have more impact in black and white. The case looks to modern and new, to have been left behind with a reason attached.

I agree James. An out-of-context object can pose powerful questions for the viewer. There are three significant bright colours here which play off each other. The obvious red bag immediatly catches the eye then there is the bright back-lit dying leaf on the right and the red flower on the left.
Does the leaf signify the ending of a passionate love affair, which is echoed in the red flower? The bag is packing the baggage of the past and looking for pastures new.
Whats your take on it? Regards John
