About When I saw these trunks buried deep into the sand dunes I stooped with my mouth agape. I saw there not ordinary trunks but the painting "Scream" by Edvard Munch (this one which was stolen few month age from museum in Oslo, Norway). I had a composition in my mind in a second and beneath you can find the result:

The description of the circumstances in which the painting was made can be found in the literary diary of Edvard Munch (22 January 1892):

"I was walking along the road with two friends.
The sun was setting.
I felt a breath of melancholy -
Suddenly the sky turned blood-red.
I stopped, and leaned against the railing, deathly tired -
looking out across the flaming clouds that hung like blood and a sword
over the blue-black fjord and town.
My friends walked on - I stood there, trembling with fear.
And I sensed a great, infinite scream pass through nature."

The picture is the next picture from the photographic workshop which took place about one month ago in one of the Polish National Park. This picture was taken early in the afternoon. The sun was climbing high so I waited it disappeared behind the clouds to avoid too strong contrast and shadows.

I hope you will like the picture as well as my idea.

Comments are welcomed :-) and highly appreciated :-)

Regards

Lukasz

I can also hear the scream for water you captured so well in this photo, Munch or no Munch. Living in a country that is dry most of the year (today we had the first real rain of this year) I know the scream for water and if you look through my protfolio, Lukasz, you can see how obsessed I am sometimes with dried plants, some waiting for the next rain, for others the next rain will already be to late.
Thank you for your kind words about my "Triple exposure".
Best regards despite everything,
Rafi

The grasping devouring texture of the sand is excellent. The closest piece of wood almost has a shiny metal quality.

Lovely composition .. but i don't like the blue "shine" in the wood here, that makes it lose the wood feeling and makes it tend towards metal ..

Hi Lukasz, I would've opted for a slightly shallower DOF, but the metaphore in the message expressed by the Scream is evident, I'd say. The textures, and the ambiguity is very strong here; with the composition leading the eye slightly to the right. Another strong methaphore: In most choices, the solution is simple, as long as you keep an open mind and look for the simplicity of the issue at hand. Good and somewhat gloomy tones. Not sure what the background behind the last stick holds, but a lower perspective would also have worked, I think; maybe even emphasising the perspective and the curve to the right. Very intriguing shot.

Cheers,

Hugo

Very good Lukasz, I do see the lines you are talking about! How interesting, and it just came into your mind like that!

I knew about the painting, but had not really read any 'story' about it. So it was interesting to read your 'about'!

I like your photograph WAY BETTER than the painting.
Lori :)
