About The Sphinx, which embodies the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh, is believed to be the head of Khafre and his guardian spirit for his entire burial complex. Carved from the natural limestone of Giza, the sphinx has disintegrated over the years, entire pieces dropping off to the desert floor below. It is not known to have chambers inside, like those found in the pyramids at Giza.

I like the angle which this shot was taken. This is presented very well. It does appear that the great sphinx is gaurding the pyramids.

Wow! Nice Job! I realized the pyramid is uneven with the statue but other than that and cropping it wonderful!

I like the fact that you got people, in the shot, I feel like this is my first real shot of the pyramid, not something that has so much perfection to it, the reality goes away. thank you.

Very cool, Kamran.

Why?

Because, as someone above me noted-I don't recall ever seeing it from this perspective before. And now that I have looked at it for several minutes, this seems like the most natural perspective to put it in.

The framing of the Sphinx by the Great Pyramid behind it is so perfect, it seems obvious (to me anyway) that this is a view the original architects had in mind.

Perhaps it is a tad bright, but if you could work with it for a bit, I'm sure it would be a perfect print on someone's wall somewhere!

good eye to see this...

Greatful. and here are some info about Sphix

The Great Sphinx at Giza, which stands at the foot of the plateau as its guardian, is sculpted with a lion's body and a human head.

It represents the sun god Re-Horakhty, Ra Horus of the Horizon, or Hor-em-akhet, Horus in the Horizon, who was worshiped at Giza from the Fourth Dynasty.

The face of the Great Sphinx is that of King Khafra and because it was carved between his Valley Temple and the so-called Temple of the Sphinx, it is generally assumed to have been made during his reign.

In this hybrid form, which combines the strength of the lion and the reasoning of man, the god and the king become one.
