I like these types of shots... Where the water is running off the sand, it makes the beach look like pressed foil...

Excellent Dave,..... great moment and captured..... you know, even if you do go back and try with your 'hood' it'll never come out as good as your first one..... had the same thing happen to me, i had a spontaneous photo, and tryed to 'recapture 'the moment when i was more prepared. I could never jus get the right moment again..... kel

I guess sometimes it's good to forget things. This shot is sweet! Great work. I don't see many lighthouses that cool on usefilm!

Thanks for you kind comments, Coral, I'm from a small town just outside Chester UK. Keep planning to take a trip up to Cumbria though, some stunning landscapes there.
This picture is from a tiny seaside town in North Wales called Talacre

Nice mood displayed indeed, but in my view it could have benifitted from a bit of post processing, something like the added image

Shot was taken with no filter at all and very little digital minipulation. I was walking down the beach saw the light reflecting off water leading up to lighthouse, and just had enough time to take a shot before the light changed again.
The only thing that was changed in PS was a slight level adjustment as I always expose to the right on the histogram and shoot in RAW mode.

Interesting image. The light's very atmospheric and the patterns in the sand are great. I'm not sure that the lighthouse wouldn't benefit from a little more definition as it is rather overwhelmed by the sand patterns but I may be wrong.

Now that is 'painting with light', ie. photography. Did you de-saturate the pic or something?
Just one suggestion though, if I was you I would have used a hood on the lens (that is if the shot was pre-planned, if it was one of those magical-moment-catch-it-if-you-can, then anything goes).
