About just 3 minutes down from my cabin is Heron Rocks Beach. A storm has just blown through and the clouds are just breaking up at sunset time. Naturally i was on the beach waiting for the break in the clouds and here is the result.

What a beautiful view, the sky is wonderful, all the colours are so rich, but those rocks - they look like gold ignots with honeycomb inthem

Defenitely worth the wait Tim, these rocks have such amazing texture and the late afternoon sun hitting them is just unbelivable, they look like they rule the entrance to the sea. Beautiful composition. Alison

Hi Tim, the low lighting and the warmth of the tones add alot to this image. Well composed. The pinch in the horizon (wide angle distortion, I presume) might be considered a minor flaw, and compared to your other work, I think the coherence between the elements in the landscape is less strong, making it a bit cluttered. Nothing you could've done differently, though (I think), and the photo is definately well worth posting... This would be awesome with a slight fog, obscuring the background a bit, if you see what I mean.

Cheers,

Hugo

These rock formations are out of this world Tim. The low angle shooting technique that you use brings shows them to great effect. The contrast with the sky is outstanding.

I like this, the rocks give a semi-abstract feel, and the colours and composition grabbed me for some reason. Nicely done.

Please ask your wife to put the coffee on :)

What a magnificent image!
What a magnificent place!
Color, texture, lighting, and dramatic skies. What more can any reasonable photographer ask for?

i do very little to my photos generally in terms of color. My guess it is the type of light we get here when the sun is near sunset. This tends to bring out the warm colors as in theis one in the foreground. I also have my D70 set on Saturated colors. Mostly because it is so grey here most times.

Beautiful shot. How do you get that tone ? I see you and Chris post shots the are strong towards browns and grays. Mix Primary colors through saturation ??
Help me out here. Or just time of day ?
