I like this shot which creates a lot of tension and drama with walking from a dark place to beckoning light. Nicely done.

Hi patrick I understand you mean the one "she left me" I think it wll work better here without the man,the open door and whole atmosphere tells
the whole story.....

Okay Patrick; From the perspective of dark and evil, and bright and safe...I prefer the original. The man is obviously in motion to hurry to the "safe zone". The brighter, and clearer the light at the end of the tunnel, the more obvious the "safe zone", thusly, the more reason to hurry. I really like it...great thought put into it...sorry to be so long winded.

Patrick, I really like this shot, and it motavated me today to do something similar. I feel very self-conscious and uneasy about taking street photos of strangers, but the use of the tunnel and him having his back to the camera really worked. Thanks for sharing,
Graham

Hehe... aye.. can be alot of photos! =) Hard to get nice captures of people when you dont control them.. hehe.. I just hope they walk/pose right which often they dont. Im very happy you liked this one Massimo Di Maggio.. =) I can see it be alot better then this.. but remake it can be a problem.. i need a man walking there with clothes like that man first.. hehe.

I talked to Roberta about a new serie and she said something about November.. she was kinda busy atm! Perhaps before christmas then? =) Good present to us all.. ;)

Take care my friend and thanks alot for your comment. I agree that the white line is abit distracting.. total black wasnt good though.. could have done it thinner! =)

Ciao!

20 shots per day? You have a machinegun, not a camera! ;) Just kidding! This photo is great? maybe the old man walking, maybe the strong darkness, maybe the blur effect, maybe the light at the end, but I love it? it happened again! It?s very meaningful image, only one thing, I think the white frame around the pic is a bit distracting, at least it distracts me ;), a thinner line would be better IMO.

I?ll meet Roberta one of these days, I hope your efforts will be successful!!! ;)))

Bye

Hi Patric, The wide angle works magic in this shot. It's quite the reverse from the idea I tried to portray in my latest triptych. In this shot, the inner darkess is prevailing, with only a glimmer of hope at the far end. Very well exposed with the motion blur emphasising the hurry to safety.... I know I'm gettig carried away here, but that's often the case with a strong image filled with metaphores.

I don't think the background needs to be blurred. The light prevails, and that's the important thing, I think. The additional information with the relative sharpness is only limited to shapes. Also, the tension in this shot is created by the dark tones, and eventhough the light is essential, the shapes and forms are only only of subsidary importance.

Very strong image.

Cheers,

Hugo

MMmmm - I like it. A perfect comp. I love the bricks in the foreground and the grey colour and how it repeats in the mans coat. Tehn, it?s also nice with the smooth blurryness in his coat.

I think I like this one the best. The man is more readily seen, and stands out well from the dark of the tunnel. Good work.

With the blurred vision, he becomes the stalked.. hurry..get out into the light. Yet in the original, he could very well BE the stalker lol.. I like both, but I think I like the original better.

I literally feel as though I am dangling from a string, watching the man pass bye... There is a certain "off kilter" feel happening here, that brings this to life. It moves. The stark contrast is magic, and the overall quality of this work is exceptional! Bravo.. ..Brad

I definitely like the blurred version better. You beat me to it, I was about to post a blurred example of your photo when I got notified. It is very similar to yours. The eyes now is on the subject and not getting pulled to the brighter area.

  0

karen clarke karen clarke   {K:18893} 10/5/2004
Okay, I know that some others had said about blurring the background outside of the tunnel, but I think differently. I guess because the way I see it is this-an old man who appears ghostly entering into the "living world". Perhaps he is an angel, and the person outside of the tunnel is a loved one he has come to visit for a while. Excellent, love these tunnel shots of yours~

Patrick Jacobson   {K:29151} 10/5/2004

Thanks alot Jeff my friend! =) I will try to blurry thing and see if it works! I wanted some details so we can see where he?s heading.. but its not good if it takes away our eyes to it instead of looking on him. Will try! Thanks for your analyze! =)

Well done! An exceptional image! I agree about blurring at the end of the tunnel, it would add so much more impact to the photo. I love the detail of the brick walkway. the slight blur on the man really gives a sense of urgency in his movement.

The long, light coloured coat makes a great contrast

just a few more steps and then enlightment..i liked the composition!looks nice ...could be better if the end of tunnel was out of focus (cuz details at the background are kinda distracting) and man was in focus(tho it could be difficult while he was moving).
well done regards Emrah..
