This is one of those rare pictures that I uploaded virtually straight out of the camera ~ no 'glowing edges' or any other arty filter! ~ so the answer to your question is that I really don't know what the curious black line is. I've just checked the original and it's the same, so your guess is as good as mine!!

Yes, he's really cute. The enhanced saturation of those coloured feathers makes them really jump out at you. But what is that dark rim around the upper edge of the bird's image?

A really exceptional posture ( as far as I know birds ).
The colours and the details are superb, everything is enhanced by the well balanced composition.

Who Chris you have been picking up the birds, this is lovely :-)
Buckfast ? that maybe rings a bell, I went to one butterfly place down sowf which had humming birds flying around but I cannot be sure about the name :-(
