About I came across this scene in a local boatyard. The crane operator hangs these flags from the hook on his crane when ever it is not in use. It struck me as both interesting and potentially provocative. There are a few more very interesting bits of information that I will share with viewers who are bold enough to leave a comment. The actual camera settings in the aperture priority mode were f/8 @ 1/200.

Thanks for the reply George. Clearly you are a very thoughtful and considerate person.

The American flag brings up a lot of issues for some people outside the US. With the Iraq situation feelings can run very high. What the US government says and what it does are two very different things. Deceit and death seem to go hand in hand. I appreciate this is very difficult for the American people to hear as it appears the propaganda machine is very convincing. Did people really expect the Iraqis to welcome foreign troops with open arms? Was the disaster that is Iraq today so unforeseeable? Would anyone have been interested in the country if it were not for its massive oil reserves? I have nothing against the American people ? in fact I have met many wonderful Americans on my travels. I do however have trouble relating to American patriotism and pride when the outcomes of your foreign policy are so catastrophic.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond. I appreciate your open mindedness when it comes to my feedback.

It's an amusing contrast of flags (and their sizes)! I had to think for a moment to recognise the Mexican flag...

James - Thank you so very much for taking the time to look at review the latest image I've posted. I wondered who the first person would be. I usually stay away from photos like this because they tend to provoke a lot a negative reaction. Having been a member of USEFILM for a long time, I have come to realize that this group of people is really special. They come from all over the world and share the common thread of a love of photography. You can find an image of just about anything here. People share their souls when they post their images. Since they are a cut above, they're also a bit smarter. They have a better understanding of history and geography than the average person.

So, back to this image. The community where I took this is adjacent to the Mexican border. The largest flag I have ever seen flown is on the south side of that border. The Mexican flag in the image is pretty darn small. What a difference a few miles make. I'll share that image soon.

I do realize that for many in the world, the sight of my flag really gets them pissed off at worst, and annoyed in the least. I have no sensitivity to this. My flag has been a target for someone or some group since its inception. This is just something we bear. The real humor develops when you get to the border and can see a lot of stereotypes relating to national flags in juxtaposition.

Nice colour and clarity is good. Not so keen on the subject matter - American flags a a bit clique and have some rather negative connotations at the moment.
