About Just back from a tiring day's travelling. Left home at 6.30am to travel to Daventry, in the Midlands, for my son's graduation ceremony ~ he's now a fully-qualified Volvo technician! Got home again at 6.30pm and almost immediately set out for Weymouth to visit my mum and dad! Back from there about 15 minutes ago and see that I've got rather a lot of friends' images to catch up on!!! Bear with me ~ I'll get to them soon!

This shot was taken on the 'Round Robin' trip from Dartmouth. You catch a little ferry over to Kingswear; get on a steam train and travel to Paignton; complete the next stage of the journey (to Totnes) on an open-topped bus; then have a 1 hour plus boat cruise back to Dartmouth. Brilliant!!!

I hope you like this shot of the train taking a curve on its approach to Churston ~ a little of Torbay is visible in the distance.

My best regards to all. Thanks for dropping by!

Have a great weekend!!

Chris

Great capture Chris and wonderful PS work, you really bring the colours out :-)
The composition is just fabulous, I love the perspective of the train - you knew exactly when and where to take this photo :-)

This is a very scenic line Chris, isn't it! Ranging from running alongside the beach at Goodrington, crossing a high viaduct nr Churston with great views out to sea, and on the drop down towards Kingswear you go through a tunnel. Lovely line. I think the coach next to the loco is a beavertail observation coach. It's good to be in that on the return journey.
Congrats to your Son, you all must be very proud.
I wondered why my ears were burning yesterday, now I know.

Funnily enough, I don't ever remember watching 'The Railway Children', John ~ though, in a sense, I was one with my dad being a 'railwayman' for many years. (Not that I'm not OLD enough to have watched it, of course!) But 'The darling buds of May' I certainly have watched! Great series! In fact, I've a number of episodes on video!
Thanks for the kind comment ~ when I get some time I'm gone get rid of that little house on the top of the hill ~ I'm sure the owners wouldn't mind!! ;-)

Love the composition Chris with the lovely curve in towards the sea. I think the house at the top left could be removed. This brings back many memories from my chihood in England. Do you remember that wonderful TV series called "The Railway Children"? Just a little bit of smoke from the engine would just be "perfik" as Pop Larkin would say. Regards John

Woooohooo !

I love steam trains. I didn't get chance to have a go on this one, maybe next time.

I do like the image though, a lovely sweep, really leads the eye into the heart of the picture. Very good.

What a busy day, you were so near to us and we didn't know. Hope all went well, and congrats to your son. This is a great shot, we have had my son daughter in law and lovely grandaughter here this evening so Den has obviously not seen this yet. I was just having a quick view before retiring - too late.

Very clever catch!! Works wonderfully!
NEat looking train, pretty countryside and love that little bit of water (which is of course, brilliantly blue colored)
Nice work,

Thanks for the kind comment, Bart!
I may well yet try a sepia version of this image with the house cloned or cropped out.
Kind regards, Chris

I love this picture. If it wasn't for the rather modern looking house in the upper left you'd almost think it was a journey in the early 1900's or so (maybe you can crop that).

A great image...
