About A great morning with my Nikonian friend, despite the showers. This shot was taken in the little Dorset village of Yetminster, just before we took lunch in the excellent White Hart!!

We had to dodge a few showers, but it was worth it for the wonderful cottage shots we got in Melbury Osmond ~ more of those later!

What attracted me to this shot was the gently curving road and banks of roofs, but there was no way of composing the shot as I wanted it without taking the horrid 30mph sign. So I did a bit of cloning and healing to get rid of it!! (See original below for comparison!)

Best regards to all,

Chris

Hi Again, I didn't see the original one until now. Excellent rework. Cloning out the traffic sign and aerials is an excellent choice. Very well done! You had me completely fooled. Next time I'll read your entire comment, instead of only the first paragraph before I write a comment...;o)

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Chris, As promised...:) Glad I didn't miss this one, as I think the mother and daughter as well as the bend in the wet road adds alot to this shot. Well captured, and a very strong image. Well exposed. No arguing about rainy weather not suitable for photography!

Cheers,

Hugo

Thanks, Roger. I think the artefacts you mentioned might be down to the glowing edge treatment I used to get my characteristic soft-painterly look.
Kind regards, Chris

Very skillful PS work, Chris. Glad you left the sky as it was, though. Good old rainy English sky for once. Makes a very nice, consistent image... especially with the people to add human interest. I get a rather funny impression from the row of cottages curving away there. They look a little softer than your shots normally are but there seem to be some sharpening artifacts (edge enhancement). Any idea why that might be?

Morning Chris, very nice and typical English Landscape. The moment after the rain has added a lot to the photo and the two people also. I'll be in England at the weekend to photograph a wedding - an international assignment so to speak :) (family). Have arranged to meet Den Thompson and Margaret Sturgess on my way up north. Looking forward to it.
Best wishes - Neil

Excellent Chris, sure glad you included the original. Excellent work well composed. The figures add interest and scale. Don.

Chris, lovely shot, I like the "puddle" element. The road leads the eye into the photo beautifully. Great PS work too! My best, Patrick

Very good picture. This gives the perfect image I have in mind when I think of an English village. I almost see myself walking there. (wished it was true for a vacation). Groeten, Mieke (and thanks for your kind words)

Evening Mr S :-)
I'm surprised you didn't remove the B&W post on the opposite of the road too! :-)) Excellent PS work on the roadsign :-)
I like the winding road too - I also like the mom and child. Most of all I like the climbing shrubs - see how beautiful the autumn colouring of the leaves compliment the colour of the chimneys and rooftiles.
Great image - my favourite kind :-)

Great job, if you wouldn't had mentioned I wouldn't ever noticed that sign was there, and it looks one hundred percent better after you modified it. I like the feeling you created on this image.
