Great capture with the meteors! I can't believe that I had my shutter open for over 2 hours in mid-August and didn't get a single one that night!

Ryan, scanning film with a good film scanner produces better results than using a flatbed. some film scanners are better than others on scanning negatives, while other models prefer color positives. if you search the web you will find pleeeenty of info about scanners. Minolta's Scandual IV is probably the top cheap film scanner, and Nikon CoolScan V-ED is considered the best midrange film scanner. advanced Epson flatbeds also scan film with adequate results for the web but not comparable to dedicated scanners for larger printing. ;-)

Actually Kostas, this was taken on color negative film, the prints were slightly grainy but acceptable. And I don't have a scanner, so I used a friend's but I'm not happy with the results, it just made them noisier. Do you have any recommendations on a good scanner. Would I get less noise if I used slide film? Thanks for your comments! I appreciate any advice. :)

star trails was the first kind of lighttrailongexposures i experimented with when i bought my first camera - and i still love watching night skies full of traffic ;-) this one here is well framed and the meteors appearance is cool, but i think the image should be less noisy ;-) save for a film scanner! :-P my regards, kostas

Thanks Kessia. Hmm, constellations, lets see... Well, Polaris is in the upper left blocked by the tree, so I was facing northeast. I'm pointed in the general direction of Perseus(hence the Perseid meteor) and Cassiopeia should be in there somewhere too. Next one I post will have a very recognizable constellation...

wow !! this is really great. I also took picture of perseid meteors on 13 of august, but with only 3 minutes exposure, got only 1 meteor crossing :), but because am using digital, so many noise due to long exposure, will upload in UF. your picture is so clean and excellent.
and thank you also for your comment in my photo. regards, cessy

great framing of the star trails! perfect exposure time, just enough saturation of the stars to see some color difference! did you capture any specific constellations? well done! Kessia

Thanks Jon. The photo was taken a few nights before the peak of the shower, so that may explain the lack of meteors. The framing was intentional, catching meteors was not, just got lucky.

Beautiful shot. My battery died 15 minutes in to my time watching the meteor shower... LOL.. better luck next year, I guess. I like the framing too, but I would have thought you would have had more meteor trails from a more open location. Was this deliberate?

This is great, lots of great movement and I love the framing with the silhouettes of the trees and the purple color of the sky. Alison
