About Just an excercise set up for the year 9 kids at the local high school.
Some of the components in this may be lost to all those young whipper snappers out there.. Ansel Adams wasn?t a bad photographer in his day and the bottles and tin contain white powder that you don?t sniff up your nose (well not directly anyway) but you mix em up with water and use ?em in a darkroom which is a place where one prints photographs using a quaint slow process whereby a photographic or Gelatin silver print can be made. This is a hand made object that is depending on the paper on which it is made can be archival and known to last over a 150 years? on the other hand I have had digital images on CD just not display because the cd which was a month old just doesn?t work anymore gosh huh !! I cut my teeth on this stuff.

Those old bottles have a ton of character, and despite the fact I have no direct history with the analog photography world, I find this image moving and lovely.

You are right Steff the bottles were actually found in the back of the old pharmacy here in town when it was closed, the new owner passed then onto me as keepsakes really I still work in the darkroom but no longer mix powders I got sick of all that dust so now they are ornaments/curiosities in my studio shelves

150 years compared to a month, I'll take the 150.
Like that old tyme stuff, that guy Ansel Adams must of really known what he was doing to have his photos last so long
So glad to see someone doing it the old fashon way in this world of high tech
Hope to be able to take a dark room class at our local community college this year to get back in the dark room.

I like that quaint slow process which produces beautiful prints. Looking at the dust on those bottles - they havent been used in a while.
