Thilo,
I took about 10 shots in this series. This is the only one that had decent focus. I hold my breath fire several shots in rapid succession in situations like this. We were talking in a small town cafe so I didn't want to make a big deal with either a tripod or flash. I selectively "unsharp masked" some areas of his face in PS also to help the process.
As always, thanks Thilo.

Kadri,
The contours of an older person's face can really tell a lot about the person. It can be really beautiful. Thanks for the comment.

Dear Erik,

I cannot believe that you shot this 100% crispy image without a tripod ;-)
1/15 out of the hands?

anyway, the clarity and detail in this portrait is just amazing. lighting & dof is also wisely chosen. I like the way he looks.

A portrait of conviction and sincerity. Photography is one thing, but really connecting with another individual is another. Looks like you did both impressively well here.

Thanks buddy, but the real thanks go to you for guiding us toward this inspiration. It's amazing that Cary (see first comment) picked up on these essences of Leonard.

Cary,
Thanks for the comments. Window light is indeed the primary light source with some overhead flourescents in the mix. Conviction, hard work and sincerity are what this man's life is all about.
Cheers,
erik

Erik, an excellent portrait, great depth control with the large aperature and slow speed, to capture window light? He has the look of conviction, hard work and sincerity, very nice composition, Cary
