You know, I love the central pole. I find that if certain "rules" aren't followed by "photographers" they can't SEE. I read it all the time on this site. "Rules of thirds", "Rule of lines intersecting a photo", etc. drives me nuts. db

Hi Igor, I just liked the balance with the darker pillar behind and to the right of the pole, I feel it compliments well withe the pole and so I could get an even balance with the apex of the houses.

The tones and contrast are great (it looks like taken on film:-), but I'm not sure about the central composition (the pole).

Hi Mica, I'll tell ya, I felt a bit guilty at first taking pictures with the digital, though I still love black and white film, the fact I have not got much access to a darkroom right now does not help either, I still use the college I used to go to , when it's open!. You should get your friend to sign up with usefilm. Always cool to see some neat pictures.

hi phil, i really like this. nice composition. i discovered a new (old) photographer at a friends' yesturday. his name is roy decarava. he black+whites are amazing. i felt like running home to get my old nikon and taking film pictures again!

Interesting composition -- the two tone fence adds interst as does that shadow of the pole which seems to be mirrored bt the chimney in the background -- K
