About stopped at the magic tree on the way home for a few minutes. Sun came out from behind the clouds and this little guy got into a spot on the Tree Where there was light. It all happens very fast. !

Don
Yes he was eating berries like crazy. this tree is right in a parking lot so I drive up and use my van for a blind. Problem is, the tourists come piling into the parking lot and hoot and holler and then i might as well go home. I am trying to get shots of Cedar Waxwings before all the berries are gone but this year its tough.
the lens, yes its a sharp unit, old version but to me i don'r care. I gave about $550.00 last year, and have been really happy with it. It has a 39MM filter tray in the body. on a tripod its really sharp.
Oh yeah, you should have seen the buck whitetail I saw last night, The biggest I have EVER seen. The rack looked like that of a ELK. by the time I got turned around and back he was gone. he was on a rock formation next to the road. The hartford stag is just what i saw along the road. I'll get him on the camera some how !!!!

He must have been having lunch on the red berries. Great detail and color. Must be nice to hold a long lens like that. Don.

Breathtaking Jim. I bet you treasure that magic tree. It has produced some wonderful shots for you and this is no exception.

when i first got my D100 i was taking slow shots of water running in a river. I used a small tripod and the timer. after I finished shooting, i picked up the camera and just enjoyed the sounds and sights. I caught movement out of the corner of my eye, a hawk shot by into the woods across the river and hit with a thud. He caught a meal ! I am ready, swing the camera and here he comes right doown the river , fully lite, with his background in the dark , shot of a life time. The prey is hanging struggling from his talons.
I focus, and shoot, i try to shot again and again.
After 10 seconds the first shot goes off of the sky. I am still on self timer.

Great capture Jim, excellent composition. I was stuck in macro yesterday when two jets flew over very very low at breakneck speed - missed it !!

Wonderful, perfect capture. With a little sprinking of snow on this and you have a great Christmas card.
