I used Photoshop to bump up the lighting and contrast.

If you need a good book to get you up to speed on Photoshop, buy the Photoshop Quickstart guide which cuts out a lot of the crap in the other books and focuses on the meat.

i agree. i like your version better. did you use PS to lighten? i think it got too dark because i was trying to sharpen the leaves in the middle, but it wasn't working - still don't know enough about PS yet!

I really like this shot too, but it needs to be brightened and the contrast needs some manipulation to bring this image to its destined excellence.
