The beauty of this scene is simply exquisite. It is spectacular and literally makes you put hand to chest and say "WOW".

yes the saturation thing that I do is so when I paint the image as a painting, it translates better in Paint on canvas. This is just the first step of my process. As a photo on its own, I agree I went a little over board like a kid in a candy store....LOL... This D70 just amazes me, how much information my previous cameras were missing.
thanks for your comment John it is always appreciated.
sincerely, Tim

This has great three dimensional depth Tim. You have captured the scene in just the right light. Glad you are enjoying your new D70. Maybe just a slight desaturation of the blue in the dark clouds, but that's minor. Regards John

I bet you circled that lake couple times :)

I would've. But thers's a catch...that Jaggie up front on the right is the hub in the picture! The setting is also spectacular. These two tiny fur trees on the left creat the 3d perspective accentuated very beautifluly by the very aptly outlined clouds! The streak of blue in the clouds, the white monster thunder cloud over the distant skyline...wow. My eyes were all over the picture. The patch of trees on the left...the submerged log...Tim, you're one fast pacer with a keen eye. I can't keep up with the volume. Maybe you give us a break :)? lol

Hi Phil,
On my trip last week i took 2300 photos in 3 days...i'm overwhelmed by all the post production i have to do now. Not complaining as it was a great trip but holy cow i'm on the computer alot just dealing with all the images. Its worse then owning stuff, as there is more of an EGO attachment....LOL.

Magnificent colours and light!! You are very prolific - I can't keep up with all of your postings... they are all worthy of comment but I only manage the time to comment on a few! Keep up the good work :)

Hi Mattias,

Yes there is a road up there on the top of the bank and the fence keeps the animals form getting hit by cars. It goes for miles all through the national park. When I lived here years ago before the fence it was a scary thing to drive at night because of the chance of hitting something. In fact I was in a car that hit a Moose. We were lucky that we didn't get killed. The moose was not so lucky and I'm sad about that.

Mattias Eklund   {K:2921} 8/1/2004
moody landscape indeed.

However, The fence on the bank to the left somewhat takes away the illiusion of wilderness.

Beautiful place though, I would love to go to banff, In winter, to do some skiing!

Well john,
these D70's sure don't hurt. I just got this one and just about came to tears seeing what great photos that were coming out of it. I mean with my old Coolpix there is no way I could have gotten these photos or at least without a whole lot of PS. The metering and breadth of tone it can handle is just short of amazing. I just bought mine for a store that allows you to return it after 15 days if you are not satisfied...... hmm ..... well I could not give it back after just 2 days...VISA all the way. guess I have to make it pay for itself LOL.
cheers, Tim

Those Nikon D 70s seem to be the pick of the bunch, I think I will have to start saving my pennies,or did the photographer have something to do with this superb shot?

Hi John,
I will be heading back there again around September too. That is the time where the Larch trees start to turn bright yellow. Might I suggest taking the bus up to Lake O'Hare in Yoho Nat' Park. If you want amazing photos that's the place to head at that time of the year. Oh also in the same valley Emerald Lake, there is a lodge there, plus the scenery is beyond belief.
Cheers, Tim

Wow Tim- it's hard to take my eyes off of this image. The beautiful greens mixed with the cool blues-it is just amazing. The grass near the middle right of the image seem to be painted in there- Mother Nature can create such beautiful art-and you have done well in capturing it. Love the baby trees in the foreground. Perfect!

Thanks Jim, these are some of the first photos i took with it. I was so amazed as to the quality that i was close to tears. The Coolpix camera i had before was no where near the quality that this had. It was allot of work to get the coolpix 4500 to render the image that i wanted out of it. Most of it in PS. With the D70 i don't have to do much PS at all.

Tim - love your work and love the area you are preesenting here. I shall be up there at the end of September and shoot much of the same territory. You have a good eye and a spirit of adventure. I really like your portfolio but think I will stay out from under the falling rocks and ice - so thanks to you for bringing us images of places we may not go. John B
