I think you did a great job on this one! I love the purple contrasting with the green! I don't know who told you that you can't take flower photos, but they were wrong!!

What do you think this is, Jim? It is a floral image that you can be extremely proud of! Look at the great DOF you achieved. Your compo is great (though I would have cropped out the bottom "blob" of a flower) and the caption of colours is excellent. I like the lean of the flower. Texture is fabulous - you chose the right bloom as it has that "fly-away-carefree-spirited" look to it.

Very nice. The flower simply pops-up from the background, giving the photo 3D feeling.

Jim, I think that this proves you wrong, you CAN take flower shots and this is a GREAT one
I like how the DOF and the green BG makes the colours in the flower really pop out.
