Thanks for your comments. I think I understand what you are saying - I'm just a bit unsure about the ettiquete here. Is this the right place to make these comments or should I direct them to a Photo Forum?
Assuming for a moment as a newbie its OK to say these things here, I have always been interested in photography and used to develop my own slides back in the '70s and '80s. Time pressures (family etc) meant I didn't have time or equipment to do more. I've had SLR's for as long as I can remember, but for some reason my images were generally mediocre.
Having bought a half-decent Digital Camera for a special aviation exercise I was involved with, I now find I can compose much better than I ever used to and it seems to work with rather than against me. I think all my best work has been in the last 4 weeks and I'm interested in what people think about it (good or bad), just didn't think people would want to see stuff that I thought was bad in the first place.
Hi Neil, Im glad to see you posting pictures here on usefilm, I really dont think you should decide on uploading more pictues on The basis that people like what they see, For me the biggest reason for posting pictures here is to make me a better photographer, I value the bad critique's as well as the good, One of the main things is to spend some time commenting on other peoples photos, This will get them to look at your portfolio and most will comment back on one of yours, This is a give and take site, you give you honest opinion to someone and they will give there honest opinion to you, I am far from a great photographer, but sometimes I post a picture I think is the best it can be, only to find out that with a few subtile changes the shot could have been better, I dont know your scale as a photographer, but It really dosent matter, pro or amature we all know what a great picture should look like even though some of us cant take that perfect shot YET :), anyway thats what makes this site great and I hope you keep posting pictures here and commenting on others, you will find it to be a rewarding experience.... Marcus, thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm fairly new to this concept of publishing my photos on the web like this. If people like what they see I'll add some more.
